Ft. Pierce Central Rallies In 7th To Walk Off Sebastian River
Things have really been clicking lately for the Fort Pierce Central Cobras. Friday afternoon they kept that good momentum rolling by rallying for a 2-1, walk-off win over the Sebastian River Sharks. Trailing 1-0 and down to its final outs, Central reversed its fortune by scoring both its runs in the final inning for the comeback victory.
Held off the scoreboard and trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Central (9-11) went right to work. Jarret Meyers led off with a single to right field, and then advanced into scoring position thanks to a sacrifice bunt from Justin Glickman. Tyleb Phinizee then walked to account for the winning run, which he quickly became when Charles Singletary jumped on the first pitch and sent it to center field for a game-ending, two-RBI double.
After both sides battled through five scoreless innings, the Sharks (7-12) finally broke the scoreless drought to take the lead with a run in the top of the sixth inning. Connor Jones connected for a one-out double on a pop fly to left, and then he came around to score on an RBI single from Andrew Rosado.
